Happening Now...
Ordinary People; Extraordinary Acts

This new exhibit in our “Heroes from Around the World” gallery honors the kind of people you see every day. You'll learn the story of Nurse Gail Gibson, who organized the rescue of 18 newborns during Hurricane Katrina; Wesley Autry, who jumped onto subway tracks to save a complete stranger;

Prof. Liviu Librescu, who sacrificed his own life to save his students from the Virginia Tech gunman and many others.

DNA Gallery Now Open

In a Museum dedicated to celebrating America’s heritage of freedom and diversity, the science of DNA is an important component of our message. Most noteworthy is the recent discovery of a common ancestor to whom all humankind is related! The Museum presents these findings through an exciting gallery of lighted wall displays, films and art. To learn about your own ancient ancestors, we offer National Geographic DNA Testing Kits in our gift store.
